Games for More Snow Fun!

First build a snowman in your yard and make a game of topping him off in style. Take turns trying to land a hat on his head by throwing it Frisbee style from 10 or so feet away.

Make a wide, shallow trench in the snow to serve as the midline. Then, take up positions at the ends of a long, thick rope and let the tugging and towing begin in the slippery snow. Whichever team pulls the entire opposing group over to its side of the trench wins.

Tie a white cloth to the end of a short stick or around a wooden spoon. Then, everyone get a chance to hide it in the snow with in predetermined area. Keep track of how long it takes for the rest of the group to find it. Whoever hid the flag that takes the longest time to spot wins the game.

Who can make the biggest snowball? Everyone starts with a snowball and rolls it around to make it bigger and bigger. The game ends when you can no longer roll your snowball or when you run out of snow.

Ashley's Favorites for the Week!

Funky Monkeys
We've had these bright, soft, fun monkeys for a little while now, but I'm still in love with them. I have the large pink one with the daisy on her hat---I love daisies!! What makes them so sweet is the little heart they have stitched on them. These monkeys are very lovable and are in need of good homes! Adopt one today at either shop location. These are a sweet gift for children of all ages.

A Gift for Pets
Even your four-legged friends deserve a little Christmas treat, and I recommend the Pet Top. Now you can water your pet without worrying about finding water and carrying around a bowl. Just add this topper to most water bottles and tip it down for your dog to drink. You don't squeeze it rather all the dog has to do is lick! My Max loves this, and I know your doggy will, too!

Waxing Poetic-IN LOVE!!!
This is such a unique jewelry line that you personalize to make your own. Choose from initials, bottles of magic potion (the funkiest charms!), and symbols (peace signs, silhouettes, crosses, etc); slide them onto a necklace or bracelet and you have a piece as unique as you! A great gift to add to throughout the year for birthdays, anniversaries, and special occasions. All of these items are available at both shops!

Moonflower by Thymes

Many of our friends and family, including myself, have enjoyed Thymes fragrances and products, however never has Thymes experienced so much success in a small amount of time with the release of a new fragrance until the release of Moonflower. We are thrilled to introduce Moonflower to our Thymes customers.

Unfolding its gilded petals and transforming the night, the scent of Thymes Moonflower entices the senses with the mysterious fragrance of twilight. As twilight unfolds, Thymes Moonflower envelops you in a rare transformation of dazzling beauty and luxurious fragrance. Anticipation dances and laughter swirls where gilded tones of cinnamon, clove and sugared quince embrace on fresh myrtle leaves and rich mahogany mingles with dark amber and smooth cognac. A golden shimmer lingers on your skin reflecting joyous moments, which sparkle through your night and last until dawn. Available in the following items: body lotion, body wash, eau de parfum, bath salts, candle and home fragrance mist.

An easy way to "go green"...or hot pink, or purple, or turquoise...

We've all heard how terrible plastic bags are for the environment, yet if you're like me, you have a ton of them stuffed in a kitchen cabinet under the sink. Re-usable bags can be boring in design, hard to keep on your shoulder and hard to travel with.

Not so with the Flip & Tumble 24-7 Bag. This re-usable bag comes in a wide variety of colors, holds up to 25 pounds, and comes with an attached stretchy pouch. "What's so great about an attached stretchy pouch", you may ask--it makes it super easy to store your bag, and makes it compact so you can throw it into your purse before you head to the grocery store or to your favorite Ivy Ridge location. :o)

Since it's attached, there's no loosing or misplacing the storage pouch; and because it's stretchy, there's no stress or frustration when trying to store your bag. There's also an added piece of special non-slip fabric stitched into the handle, so you'll never have to worry with the strap falling off your shoulder (it also creates a little bit of padding so it's comfy to carry!). And at $9.99, it's a great gift, too! Time to recycle all of those plastic bags under the sink!

Peas in a Pod Reflects Our Family in Our Hearts

Few gifts are treasures for a lifetime, however our Peas in a Pod Necklace reflects what is most dear to us- our friends, family, children, and grand children. Pea pods are a symbol of the close bonds we share in those relationships. Artist Lori Strickland envelops lustrous freshwater pearl "peas" in a sterling silver pod, individually sculpted to accommodate the exact pearl shape. In addition, realistic curling tendrils and a silver leaf provide lovely organic variation unique to each pendant. Available with 2, 3, 4 or 5 pearl "peas" in your choice of green, white or charcoal gray. Each necklace includes 17-inch sterling silver snake chain with lobster-claw clasp.

We have several in stock at both locations, however special orders are available. Expect 2 to 3 weeks delivery time, so order now to assure for an unforgettable Christmas gift.

Sweet Potatoes Challenge

I found that we rarely cook sweet potatoes unless it is around the Holidays; however when a sweet potato is compared with all other vegetables-it ranked number 1 in nutritional value! Sweet potatoes are rich in complex carbohydrates, dietary fiber, beta carotene (vitamin A equivalent), vitamin c and vitamin B6.
I have made the following recipe two different times and put in the fridge to eat throughout the week and loved it each time!
Oven Roasted Vegetables in Italian Dressing
2 medium sweet potatoes cut in 1 inch cubes
2 medium sweet onions cut into wedges
2 medium carrots cut into 1 inch cubes
1/3 cup fat-free/low fat Italian dressing
1/4 teaspoon ground red pepper
1 medium green pepper cut in 1 inch squares
Heat oven to 500 degrees. Spray 13x9x2 rect. pan with cooking spray. Place sweet potatoes, carrots and onions in pan. Mix dressing and red pepper and pour over vegetables. Cover and bake 10 minutes. Stir green peppers into vegetables. Cover and 5 minutes; stir vegetables. Bake uncovered 10 minutes longer. Serves 6 for around 1 ww point per serving.
Exercise update: I have walked 3.5 miles this I am trying to get some movement into the week! However this is the first week, since I posted the exercise post that I have gotten goal to join the YMCA!

Sleep Like a Baby!

These pillow cases are one of my favorite monogrammed items we have ever had at the shops. We have two fun fabric options to choose from and get yours now while we have a great selection of all letters. $21.99 retail and available at our N. Wilkesboro and Elkin locations.
